BASIC is 501(c)(3) non-profit with its own board of directors, but we are also an affiliate ministry of Elim Fellowship, a Christ-centered worldwide revival fellowship.

Lou Giordano
Lou served as student president of the BASIC chapter at SUNY Cortland after giving his life to the Lord in 1983. After graduation, Lou became the advisor to the group and in 1989 joined BASIC’s staff. Sensing the call of God to work on the local church level, he accepted a position on staff at a church in Cortland.Lou now serves as the Pastor of Church of the Resurrection in East Syracuse. He has been married to his beautiful wife Margaret since 1990 and they have five children.

Jesse Teitsworth
Jesse received a Bachelors degree from Grove City College in 2007. He is now a local business owner in the Rochester area with Roy Teitsworth Inc. and joined the board in late 2009. He spent 6 months in China on a short term missions trip in addition to having been to Russia and Israel on other short term missions trips.Jesse is excited about the opportunity to impact college students at a pivotal time in their lives. He and his wife, Kelly, live in Avon, NY and attend GraceLife Church.

Rose Korthas
Rose Korthas has dedicated her life and ministry to the principle of discipleship while focusing her life on training leaders. Rose founded Spirit, Soul & Body Ministries in 2003. She is also a licensed minister and graduate of RHEMA Bible Correspondence School and Ministry Training Institute (MTI).A gifted evangelist and teacher, her heart is to assist pastors and leaders in the establishment of the local church body. Rose has been a business owner for 23 years and currently resides in New Jersey.

Alex Thevaranjan
Alex is an associate professor at the Whitman School of Management of Syracuse University. He has published in leading journals in the fields of accounting, marketing, economics, and operations management. He also ministers among the international students at Syracuse University some of whom live with his family.Alex and Ranjana Thevaranjan have two boys, Ivan and Irvin, and a daughter, Asha, who was adopted from their home country of Sri Lanka which is being torn apart by an ethnic war.

Joe Jansen
Joe Jansen pastored New Life Church in Herkimer, NY for the last 18 years. He is now the full time Director of US Ministries for Elim Fellowship. Because of Joe’s passion for fellow pastors and the local church, he provides guidance, advice and counseling to pastors throughout Central New York on strategies for church growth, maintaining a healthy congregation, and personal transformation.Joe received his BA from SUNY Oswego and later went to Elim Bible Institute, where he met his wife, Joann. They have three adult children. -
Todd Cavanaugh
Todd is the Executive Director of BASIC College Ministries and the chairman of the board. After living on a public college campus for several years, Todd developed a passion to see students' lives transformed by Christ. He now travels extensively speaking in the Northeast and organizes large conferences for students.He graduated with an MBA from the Rochester Institute of Technology after studying at SUNY Brockport and Elim Bible Institute. He and his wife live in Lima, NY with their twin boys. -
Wayne Hedlund
Pastor Wayne's roles in the local church have spanned just about every aspect of ministry, including children, teens, college, care, worship, groups, services, events and leadership development. He has been instrumental in leading teams in strategic development, overseeing critical success factors, and realigning ministry and culture around the church’s mission and vision.Now he serves on staff at Elim Fellowship and lives happily with his wife and four children.
